Do’s study examines whether social integration can help mitigate the negative consequences of physical declines in later life. Using nearly 50 sources and survey data from the Daily Experiences and Well-being Study (DEWS), Do provides new insight into the significance of peripheral social ties, such as neighbors or coworkers, in protecting older adults’ mental health.
